Wireless Scanners Growing In Popularity

Wireless scanners are proving to be a big efficiency booster for warehouse and shipping industries. In fact a few postal companies have said that they have seen an upswing in business since they started using wireless scanners.

A variety of wireless scanners are available these days in a wide range of prices.  Most wireless scanners use blue tooth technology. The wireless scanners are light and portable thus allowing the operator to move easily from place to place. These scanners may a great difference in industries requiring scanning of heavy and immovable items.

Wireless scanners connect to the base station or workstations wirelessly and can transmit data back to the terminal as long as they are within the wireless range radius. Wireless scanners using Bluetooth technology provided wireless coverage and lower cost per scan compared with wireless scanners using different technologies.

Many analysts say that bar code scanning is the most efficient way to collect data as it around 50 times faster and 10,000 times more accurate than manual data entry. As the price of wireless scanners is not very high a lot of businesses are able to afford these wireless scanners. Some of the new wireless scanners work on fuzzy logic technique and the use of this technology make it easy for even difficult codes to be captured accurately.

They are essentially two basic types of barcode scanners available- mage based scanners and laser based scanners. Image-based scanners use cameras to capture images for scanning and interpretation. These scanners are very useful for scanning from short distances. They are often used in grocery stores.

The Laser based code scanners use al laser to capture the basic information. The advantage of the laser bar code scanner is that they are very convenient to use for scanning from short and long distance. More wireless scanners are laser based scanners.

As the price of wireless scanners have rapidly dropped over the past few years it has become more affordable even to small business owners. These days wireless scanners are available for a few hundred dollars and have become a good investment for almost all business owners.
